How to use the IP Geolocation Lookup
- Enter a public IPv4 or IPv6 address, for example 8.8.8.8.
- Select Look up location.
- Read the country, region, city, coordinates, time zone and network owner.
Privacy and limitations
- This tool sends the value you enter to a server to perform the lookup. Do not enter confidential data.
- IP geolocation is approximate: results usually identify the right country, but the city can be wrong, and VPNs, mobile networks and proxies show the provider’s location.
- Private, loopback and reserved addresses have no public location and are rejected before anything is sent.
- This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IP geolocation?
Country-level results are usually correct. City-level results are an estimate; the accuracy radius shows how uncertain the coordinates are.
